Mount Holyoke Library Undergraduate Research Prize: 2025

The Mount Holyoke Library Undergraduate Research Prize is a new annual award to honor student work that showcases exemplary skills in writing a research paper using library or archival resources. 

Eligibility
Current MHC students may submit any research paper written for a course or independent study taken during the past two academic years (senior theses are ineligible). 

How to Submit
To submit a paper, email researchservices-g@mtholyoke.edu with “Library Undergraduate Research Prize” in the subject line and the submission attached by April 1, 2025In the email, please note the course, supervising faculty member, and semester for which the paper was produced.

Awarding of the Prize
Papers submitted will be evaluated by a committee of Research and Instruction Librarians and Archivists according to a rubric viewable here

The Library Undergraduate Research Prize carries a $300 award; an Honorable Mention Prize carries a $150 award. Both papers will be published in Mount Holyoke College’s Institutional Digital Archive, IDA. 

Winners will be notified by email by April 15 and the award will be conferred at an awards ceremony day in May

The prize is administered by the library’s departments of Research Services and Archives and Special Collections with support provided by the Biological Sciences and History departments.
