Arabic Guide
The Center for World Languages Program
Each year the Center for World Languages helps hundreds of Five College students learn more than 40 less-commonly taught languages, from Amharic to Dutch to Vietnamese. Students direct their own learning in a supervised independent format, meeting weekly with native-speaking/fluent conversation partners, developing cultural competence, and preparing themselves for study, research and employment throughout the world—all while earning course credit. You can find more information on their website.
The Center for World Languages also provides employment opportunities for native speakers of less-commonly taught languages. Students can work as conversation partners for other students in their Mentored and Supervised Independent language programs.
Arabic Offerings
The Five College Center for the Study of World Languages offers Supervised Independent Language Program (SILP) classes for the study of Arabic dialects including: Egyptian Arabic, Levantine Arabic, and Moroccan Arabic. View recent syllabi from their program here.
The Five College Arabic Language Initiative promotes the study of Arabic language and culture and enables students to work with Five College faculty to develop a plan of study.
