Welcome to Library Research

This guide represents an opportunity for you to do exploratory research to help you select a country for your project. There is a lot to consider and vet before settling on a country and this exercise will prepare to make a selection.

The next step of tabs will take you on a journey from online databases to monographs in the stacks to online archives that collect materials that may inform the questions for your papers with your group or pair.

You will have forty-five minutes to complete the prompts in each of these tabs and we will reconvene in Library 619 to reflect on the research process collectively. Remember, the research process is like a labyrinth.

Monographs

Now it's time to locate some of the citations you found in your monographs. Locate two articles AND two monographs from the two books you chose near the books you were tasked to find in the stacks. Add them to the Google Doc from the Welcome Tab. If you can't locate one of the books or articles in the stacks, talk about the steps you would take to request them.

This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 4,600 journals, including full text (PDFs) for nearly 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. Backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.
