As of June 1, 2020, we moved to a mediated purchase program whereby requests for films will be received and quickly reviewed by LITS staff. Faculty needs for teaching as well as most other academic uses will be first priority, but special situations will also be considered. Approved requests can take 3-5 business days to be made available by Kanopy so we recommend planning ahead to ensure that the title is available in time.
As an alternative, you can search or browse for video titles in AVON (Academic Video Online).
Many public libraries provide access to Kanopy. Many researchers rely on academic libraries, as well as public libraries. We encourage you to use your local public library and are appreciative of our partnerships with them!
Get an eCard from the Boston Public Library: If you are living in Massachusetts for most of the year to attend school, you are eligible for a BPL eCard, which will grant you access to the vast array of the BPL's online resources, including streaming video via Kanopy and other collections. Register for your eCard.
