Windows: Arabic Keyboard Layouts

On Windows computers at MHC, we have activated 1 keyboard typing in Arabic, which is called "Arabic 101".

Mac: Arabic Keyboard Layouts

On Macs at MHC, we have activated 3 keyboards for typing in Arabic. Here is a brief overview of the options:

  • Arabic - PC: We recommend Arabic - PC as it's the method that is most commonly used in the Arabic-speaking world. This is the same as the Arabic 101 keyboard for Windows above.
  • Arabic: This is an alternative keyboard layout used in Macs, but as Arabic - PC is more commonly used around the world, so it may be better for you to learn that one.
  • Arabic - QWERTY: This typing method may be easier for some English-speakers to learn at first, because the keys are assigned to Arabic letters based on a sound association with the English letters. Again, this is not commonly used by Arabic speakers, so it may be better for you in the long run to learn the Arabic - PC keyboard.
