Finding Dissertations

This guide provides information about how to find both published and unpublished theses and dissertations.

Why Dissertations?

When conducting in-depth research on a very specific topic, it can be useful to look at theses and dissertations to expand your search. Looking at the bibliography of a dissertation can also help point to other useful sources.

What to Keep in Mind

Many theses and dissertations have never been published, meaning they are not vetted by editors or the peer review process. It is important to critically evaluate these sources! Also, while many are available online, theses and dissertations only available in print are often difficult (and sometimes impossible) to acquire.
