Chicago Style Citations: Author-Date System

Citations for your paper should be formatted using the Chicago Style Author-Date System.

Below are some examples of citations for different source types, first as they should appear in your References Cited list and below that as they should be cited in the text.

Basic format for a book:

Pollan, Michael. 2006. The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals. New York: Penguin. 
 
(Pollan 2006)

Journal Article:

Blair, Walter. 1977. “Americanized Comic Braggarts.” Critical Inquiry 4 (2): 331–49.

(Blair 1977, 331–32)
